Austrian President visits quadriplegic Pole Vaulter Kira Grünberg

Austria, Aug 15, 2015: Only two weeks after her dramatic accident during a training jump, which left the Austrian athlete of the year Kira Grünberg quadriplegic, she was visited by the Austrian president Heinz Fischer one day before her 22nd birthday.

The Austrian President Heinz Fischer, accompanied by his wife Margit, has visited Kira Grünberg at the university hospital in Innsbruck. Kira Grünberg’s horrifying accident has left many Austrians and Europeans shocked and throughout the world great sympathies have been expressed.

With her strong will and her brave attitude Kira Grünberg has become a pioneer for many people in the world, fighting with difficult situations.

During the visit Dr. Heinz Fischer has not only expressed his sympathies, but also discussed the accident and Kira Grünberg informed him about her progress so far and her expectations for the years to come.
