Lausanne – FITA News, Nov 21, 2011: During its Congress held in Turin, Italy on 1-2 July 2011, World Archery awarded a special award to Klaus Dietrich SCHULZ (GER). The “father” of the FITA Rule Book for a long time received the title of Honorary Chairman of the Constitution and Rules Committee (Klaus SCHULZ receives Special Award).
As Klaus SCHULZ was not present in Turin to receive the award from World Archery, the German Shooting Federation (DSB) chose the closing festivities of the 150th anniversary of their foundation in 1861 to hand over the award to him.
He was received on Friday night, 18 November with a reception and a solemn ceremony in Coburg at the castle of their protector the Duke of Sachsen Coburg and Gotha in front of selected guests.
As the last point of the ceremony Josef AMBACHER, President of the German Shooting and Archery Federation, explained to the audience why World Archery had conferred this distinction on Klaus SCHULZ and handed over the award to him under general applause.
“I feel very honoured by the award conferred on me by the Torino Congress. I was completely surprised by this recognition and felt deeply touched. Now I am grateful and proud of the fact that World Archery appreciates my contribution to archery so highly. Working for FITA, for World Archery has enriched my life”, Klaus SCHULZ said.
