Germany, Oct 14, 2014: The second annual FIBA Europe Mini-Basketball Convention and U14 Get Together is set to take place in Warsaw, Poland from 17-19 October, with the weekend also marking the first meeting of the FIBA Europe Youth Commission, term of office 2014-2018.
Whilst the U14 Get Together has been an annual fixture on the FIBA Europe calendar for a number of years, it was only in Prague, Czech Republic in 2013 that the Mini-Basketball Convention was added to the weekend activities.
Present over the course of the weekend will be those with direct involvement in youth and mini-basketball in their respective countries from throughout Europe. They will be invited to participate in numerous seminars and practical sessions, which will be chaired by guest speakers not only from the field of youth basketball, but youth sport in general.
Speaking of the privilege at being selected to host the event, Polish Basketball President Grzegorz Bachanski commented that, “It is a great honour for us. We are glad that we can organise such a prestigious conference for U14 coaches from all over Europe and to present our Polish heritage, not only in basketball.”
“In recent years, FIBA Europe has organised many events in co-operation with the Polish Basketball Federation and I have no doubt that this will be another successful venture between our two federations,” said FIBA Europe Secretary General Kamil Novak.
Novak also made reference to the importance of the conference in relation to FIBA Europe’s aims for youth basketball in Europe, stating, “The Mini-Basketball Convention and U14 Get Together reinforces the commitment that FIBA Europe makes to youth basketball in Europe and the focus we put on increasing the exposure and participation in our sport from the grass roots up.” —- Fiba Europe
