The athletics World Championships will be held from 19 to 28 July in the city of Lyon, France. Around 1,300 athletes from 90 countries are expected to attend the event which will be the first major gathering of international track and field stars following the hugely successful London 2012 Paralympic Games. Entry to the event is free of charge to all members of the public.

Craig Spence, IPC Media and Communications Director, said: “Lyon is going to be an exciting event not only for the athletes, but also for the public and for the media. We are building on the success of London 2012 and to keep that momentum going we are hoping for a big turn-out of media.

“We expect the championships to showcase both athletes who celebrated Paralympic titles in London, as well as young, emerging talent in the sport. And we expect top level performances from all of them.”
