Pakistan Army got 1st, WAPDA second, KPK and HEC got third position in National Judo

Islamabad, May 4, 2019: Pakistan Judo Federation in collaboration with Islamabad Judo Association and Army Sports Directorate organized 26th National Men and 9th National Women Judo Championship from 30th April to 4th May 2019 at PSB, Islamabad.

In which top 14 teams i.e., KP, Punjab, Sindh, Baluchistan, Islamabad, FATA, Gilgit Baltistan, AJK, Pak Army, WAPDA, Railway, Police, Navy and HEC participated in the championships.

Team event of men Army first, Wapda second, HEC and KP third while in women team even Wapda first, Army second and HEc and KP got third

The Championships were held in 10 weights and 8th weights of men and women, respectively, as per the details given below:

Weight Categories:
Men: -50 Kg-55 Kg, -60 Kg, -66 Kg, -73 Kg, -81 Kg, -90 Kg, -100 Kg ,+100 Kg & Open Weight.

Weight Categories:
Women: -40 Kg,-44 Kg,-48 Kg, -52 Kg, -57 Kg, -63 Kg, -70 Kg & Open Weight

Women Medals

Team events are also included in this championship according to international rules & regulations.

Points Table Women

Two Pakistan based Judokas living in Japan also participated in the championships.

Japan based Olympian Shah Hussain Shah who is Asian bronze medalist, commonwealth games silver medalist, and trice Gold medalist of South Asia and National Chmapion.

Besides they will compete to defend his title.

He is son of our National Pride Hussain Shah, Olympic bronze medalist.

Shah had qualified for Rio 2016 thus becoming ever first Pakistani Judoka to achieve this mark.

He is also eyeing for Tokyo 2020.

Men Medals

Another enthusiastic japan based 20 year old young girl Amina Toyoda is featuring for the first time at National level.

She had represented Pakistan in Asian Junior Judo Championship in Sochi ,India and qualified for Semi Final by defeating Indian Judoka.

Points Table Men

Pakistan Army defended it title and over all got 1st position by clinching 06 Gold, 03 Silver and 01 Bronze Medal.

WAPDA remained Second with 04 Gold, 03 silver and 3 Bronze Medals.

While HEC in men got third position with 03 silver and 03 bronze medals while in women KP with 1 Silver and 3 Bronze medals got third position.

Japan based shah Hussain Shah and Amina Toyoda, Judokas of Army got 4 gold, 2 by each in his/ her weight category as well as in open.

Sibling Judokas belong to minority showed their worth in 26th National Men and 9th National Women Judo championship, Islamabad 2019.

In 26th National men and 9th National Women Judo Championship One brother and two sisters showed their worth by clinching Gold.

Ambreen Masih bronze medalist of South Asian and 9 times national champion and her sister Humaira Ashiq South Asian Gold medalist and 9 times national champion got Gold in 9th National women while their brother in in 26th National Judo Championship got Gold medal.

The Championships concluded today at 6 pm in Hamidi Hall, Pakistan Sports Complex.

In the closing ceremony (National Women Judo Championship) Dr Fehmida Mirza, Federal Minister Inter Provincial Coordination graced the occasion as chief guest.

The guests of Honour were Akbar Durrani, Secretary IPC and Takahiro Tamura, Head of Public Affairs Section, Embassy of Japan along with DG PSB and other senior officials. —- PJF
