Chris Eaton takes up post at the International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS)

Doha, Qatar, May 01, 2012: The International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS), the not-for-profit institution that specialises in sport security and integrity, has today announced the arrival of Chris Eaton as the organisation’s new Director of Sport Integrity.

Chris Eaton joins the ICSS following his role as Head of Security at FIFA, where he oversaw the development of an international investigation programme tasked with combating match-fixing and criminal behaviour within football.

In his new position, Chris will work closely with international sporting bodies, governments, agencies and academic institutions to assist them in the development of cross-sport platforms and solutions to tackle the incursion of criminals into both international sports and gambling.

Chris Eaton, Director of Sport Integrity at the ICSS, said: “I am delighted to be joining the ICSS and look forward to working closely with the team to help combat the scourge of sports-results manipulation and criminal activities in sport. The ICSS provides tailored advice in important issues of sport security and integrity and I hope to use the valuable experience and knowledge that I gained at FIFA to help develop an international and multi-sport approach to these critical issues.”

Speaking on Chris Eaton’s arrival, Mohammed Hanzab, President of the ICSS, said: “On behalf of the ICSS, I am delighted that Chris, who has been at the forefront of the fight against international match-fixing and related corruption in football, has decided to join the ICSS. Alongside our recent agreement with the Université Paris I – Panthéon-Sorbonne to develop research programmes and tackle illegal sporting activity, we hope that Chris’s arrival demonstrates our ongoing commitment in addressing important issues in sport integrity.”
