Peshawar-Pakistan, March 08, 2012: Juniors Judo Training Camp, The Pakistan Sports Board, the governing body for Sports in Pakistan Organizing the Junior Judo Training Camp at Peshawar from March 10th, 2012 at Qayyum Stadium, Peshawar Cantt. This is an Initial step taken for the preparation and selection of 26th coming Olympics Games at Brazil-2016. With a courtesy of Pakistan Sports Board and Pakistan Judo Federation, The Junior Judo Camp is going to start by tomorrow.
It will be 60-days special training camp for young judokas. After the camp, judokas will be selected and sent for advanced training. The Federation will also send teams to different areas-level judo meets under various age categories. Judokas from the Federation are doing well at National as well as International levels in recent years. So, these camps will be organized in different areas of Pakistan like Lahore, Karachi and Quetta. Will also distribute the Kits among the players as well.
From this Camp, the selected young Judokas will then be able to participate in the Youth Provincial Tournaments and from there further the selection will be made for participation in the National/International Judo Championships.
“As our objective is to promote judo at the grass root level, so that we can have a pool of resources. We are also planning to bring in coaches with international repute so that our young players can hone their skills”.
The selected Judokas also have a chance to approach for the selection of next Olympic Games at Brazil -2016.
Pakistan Judo Federation had warmly welcomed this initial step of the Pakistan Sports Board.
