Olympic Council of Malaysia Weekly Highlights, 9th October 2011: Visit of Representatives of the Sharjah Ladies Club UAE to Malaysia Ms. Nada Askar Al-Naqbi – Manager of Women Sports Department, Ms. Nawal Al-Shaibani – Media and Marketing Executive, Ms. Mai Al-Amri – Volleyball Administrative and Ms. Awatif Al-Halabi – Coaches Supervisor, representatives of the Sharjah Ladies Club, visited Kuala Lumpur from 3rd to 8th October 2011.
They visited and held discussions with the National Sports Council and Institute of Sports Malaysia on 4th October 2011. On 5th October 2011, they had discussions with Ms. Low Beng Choo, Vice President and Chairperson of Women and Sports Committee of OCM, and also with Cik Hajah Norminshah Sabirin and visited the OCM Sport Museum and Hall of Fame and the Malaysian Basketball Association. On 6th October 2011, the representatives of the Sharjah Ladies Club visited the Bukit Jalil Sports School, in the morning, after which they went to Putrajaya to meet officials of the Sports Division of the Ministry of Education.
The visit was a great success. The representatives of the Sharjah Ladies Club acknowledged they benefitted from their visits and discussions with the various Malaysian sports organizations and also enjoyed their stay in Kuala Lumpur.
Final Session of the 4th Advanced Sport Management Course
The final session of the 4th Advanced Sport Management Course was held from 6th to 9th October 2011. As this was the final session of the course, the ten participants who attended all four sessions since February 2011, had completed the course and would graduate when they have submitted two case studies, which is a mandatory requirement of the Olympic Solidarity.
The ten participants are Encik Billy Lee Yong Hing, Puan Rohaya bte Yahya, Encik Rajamohan s/o Ramasamy, Encik Syaizalah Kamarudin, Encik Richard Stanley Soloman, Encik Boon Aik Hau, Encik Clarence Selvam Visuvasam, Encik Elangkoven Muniady, Encik Li Tak Wing, Puan Mala a/p Jayhindaran.
In closing the course, Dato’ Sieh Kok Chi congratulated the participants for completing the course and thanked the facilitators for conducting the course. He stated that OCM and Olympic Solidarity had provided the tool to the participants for them to perform their work more efficiently and effectively, and it was really up to them to do so. Based on their improved performance, they could impress their respective employers to support their advancement in their careers.
Completion of the First Month of Internship by the Intern from NOC of Mongolia, Ms. B. Bayartuya, the intern from the NOC of Mongolia has completed her first month of internship with the Olympic Council of Malaysia. She arrived in Kuala Lumpur on 11th September 2011, to undertake an internship programme with the OCM until 9th December 2011.
During her first month, she was involved in the preparation of Individual Entry Forms by Name and the applications for accreditation of athletes and officials of the Malaysian Contingent to the 26th SEA Games to be held in Jakarta and Palembang from 11th to 22nd November 2011.
She attended the OCM Selection Meeting held on 26th September 2011 and was impressed by the selection process of OCM, where she had the opportunity to witness the democratic and transparent manner national athletes and officials were selected. She was also impressed with OCM’s practice of categorizing the athletes and officials under A and B.
Ms. Bayartuya attended the 4-day Training of Trainers Course (TROT), which qualified her as a trainer of the Basic Sport Administrators Course of the NOC of Mongolia. She accompanied the sports officials of the Sharjah Ladies Club during their visits to the various sports organizations, where she learnt the roles, responsibilities and structures of Malaysian sports and the development of women sports.
On the cultural side, Ms. Bayartuya attended the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia and that of the OCM. She also attended the wedding ceremony of the daughter of Y.Bhg. Dato’ A. Sani Karim, Deputy President of OCM, and the Royal Selangor Club Hash Section’s 20th Anniversary Celebration Run. All in all, Ms. Bayartuya had an enjoyable and fruitful first month in OCM.
2011 IWWF Asian Waterski & Wakeboard Championship
The 2011 IWWF Asian Waterski and Wakeboard Championship was held at Water Sports Complex Presint 6, Putrajaya, from 5th to 9th October 2011. Congratulations to the Malaysian Water Ski and Wakeboard Federation for the following excellent achievements of their athletes:
• Ms. Phililipa Yoong, winning the gold medal in the Open Women Slalom.
• Ms. Aaliyah Yoong Hanifah, winning the silver medal in the Open Women Tricks event and winning the Under 17 Girls Tricks event. Ms. Aaliyah Yoong Hanifah is the half sister of Ms. Phillipa Yoong and turned eight in July 2011.
