ITF Beach Tennis World Championships

Cervia – Italy, August 04, 2013: The Italian pairings of Alessandro Calbucci and Marco Garavini, and Sofia Cimatti and Veronica Visani won the men’s and women’s doubles titles at the 2013 ITF Beach Tennis World Championships in Cervia, Italy on Sunday 4 August. Men’s and women’s pairs from 21 countries contested this year’s event.

This is the fifth edition of the Championships that were previously hosted at the Foro Italico in Rome in 2009-11, and Burgas, Bulgaria in 2012. This is one of the two flagship events on the ITF Beach Tennis Tour, alongside the recent World Team Championships in Moscow, Russia. Since the launch of the Tour in 2008, worldwide participation has continued to grow each year. The 2013 Tour will see around 150 events held in over 30 countries, while 48 nations are currently represented in the ITF Beach Tennis World Rankings.
