Lausanne, Oct 12, 2012 – The International Boxing Association (AIBA) is pleased to announce that a total of 94 R&Js will attend the APB/WSB R&J Workshop from 29 October to 4 November 2012 in the city of Incheon, South Korea, with the flights kindly donated by AIBA sponsor Korean Air.
There were more than 50 new candidates who had applied to take part in addition to the 50 WSB R&Js already signed up. After a careful selection process, a final list of 94 was drawn up that included 19 existing Supervisors and 68 R&Js.
During this intensive five-day induction, the Referees and Judges will take part in theoretical and practical courses in order to be fully in tune with the differences between AIBA Olympic Boxing (AOB) and AIBA Professional Boxing (APB) / World Series of Boxing (WSB).
During the workshop, there will be two days of seminar that detail APB/WSB Competition and Technical Rules with an in-depth analysis of the APB program to be launched in late 2013. This will then be followed by two days of practical seminars with actual scoring practice in real live situations with the intention of replicating bouts by bringing in some boxers to take part. The courses will be presented in English with Spanish, French and Russian translation.
The evaluation/exams, scheduled for Wednesday 31 October, will be divided into three categories, with one multiple choice paper to be completed, a practical individual test with video and finally an in-depth evaluation by three experienced instructors. Once they have passed these rigorous tests, they will become certified APB/WSB R&Js and will thus officiate AOB Elite Competitions as well as APB and WSB events.
After this workshop, all R&Js and supervisors will be fully versed in all AIBA competitions and will be the best in the business. —- AIBA
