International Ballroom Dancing, For the eight consecutive year, A & C Dynamic Dance Studio, helmed by reigning Malaysian professional ballroom champions since 2000, Mr Alex Lim and Ms Carmen Chuang, will be presenting The Malaysian International Dance Championship 2012 (Open To The World) cum 3rd Leg of Asian Open Dance Tour 2012 to be held on Saturday, 3rd March 2012 Saturday at the Royale Chulan, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, a Championship Event that promises even greater world-class thrills and spills for dance fans and enthusiasts.
The Championship, targeted at amateurs and professionals, is recognized by the Asian Dance Council (ADC) and the Malaysian Dancers’ Association (MDA), a member of the World Dance Council (WDC).
Mr Alex Lim, Organizing Chairman of the Championship said the Event aims to provide a platform for local dance aficionados to exchange and hone their skills while at the same time, promote dancesport among Malaysians and to nurture future world champions.
“Our philosophy in organizing this Championship is to bring the best dancers from around the world to our shores and showcase their dance skills to the Malaysian public and to generate interest and ignite passion in dancesport,” he said.
He said dance sport is a healthy activity that can encourage family bonding and bridge the generation gap as it is an activity suitable for family members of all ages. Apart from that, dancing can also instill self-discipline, respect and enhance posture. Lim said the forthcoming Championship is expected to attract over 750 contestants from 30 countries in the Australasian, European and Asian region to compete in the Ballroom and Latin dance categories.
The participating countries include Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, Greece, Russia, France, Ukraine, Macau and Sweden.
The Championship is held over one day, falling on 3rd March 2012.
Ballroom & Latin Events *
The Ballroom dance competed are Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Slow Foxtrot and Quickstep while the Latin dances contested are Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Jive, Rumba and Paso Doble.
The contestants will compete under at least 60 categories covering Beginners One Dance, Juvenile under 12, Junior Under 16, Senior Over 40, Senior Over 50, Lady Event for under 12 and adults, Novice, Pre-Amateur, Amateur, and Professional Open.
The highlight of this year’s Championship is the top 12 world ranking professional couples pitting against each other. It will definitely be an eye-opener for some fantastic and awesome performances. There will be an attractive total Prize Money of USD 50,000 (Fifty Thousand US Dollar) for the Championship in the professional and amateur categories.
The top world professional standard who will be competing in our Event includes, Arunas Bizokas n Katusha Demidova, Vicotr fung n Annastasia, Eldar Dzhafarov and Anna Sazhina, Andrea Ghigiarelli And Sara Andracchio, Warren Boyce and Kristi Boyce. And the professional Latin will be Riccardo Cocchi and Yulia Zagoruychenko, Alessandro Camerotto and Nancy Berti, Andrej Skufca and Melinda, Roman Italyankin and Olga Kordevich. Amateur Latin and Ballroom includes Klemen Prasnikar and Alexandra Averkieva, Alex Freyr Gunnarsson and Liis End, Jean Philippe Milot and Laurence Bolduc and etc.
Members of the public can purchase Day admission tickets priced at RM80 per person in advance or on the day of the actual event to catch the amateur competitors. The night event starts from 6.00 pm to 11.30 pm and spectators can purchase advance dinner tickets to catch the grand finals performances by international competitors. Hip Hop, Belly Dance, University Medley and Medley for the Silent Teddies. This event covers the above said dances, with competitors’ age ranging between seven and seventy.
Each routine will not be more than 1.5 minutes. Judgment will be based on choreography, synchronization, team work, costume and technique. We have taken another bold step and brought in a group of deaf and mute student from CSCD (Community Service for the Centre of Deaf) – The Silent Teddies, and tonight they will be competing among themselves. This CSCD event is organized by ANC Dynamc Dance Studio and sponsored by Rotary Club of Bukit Bintang So I hope the audiences will put up their hand and wave to them to give them encouragement.

About A & C Dynamic Dance Studio:
A & C Dynamic Dance Studio is helmed by the reigning Malaysian Professional Ballroom Champions since 2000, Mr Alex Lim and Ms Carmen Chuang. The couple sealed their love for dancing with their marriage in 2000.
With numerous wins at local and international Dance Competitions combined with over 15 years of teaching experience between them, the duo decided to set up their own dance studio in 2001 to share their passion with fellow dancing enthusiasts.
Recently re-located to a new premise at 3rd Floor The Scott Garden (5min away from Midvalley) the main dance studio occupies a floor area of 3,000 sq feet. The spaciousness and conducive environment, amongst others, account for the popularity of their studio. The ever-growing crowd at the studio has inspired Alex and Carmen to expand their dance academy and this has led to the set up, in early 2009, of their second dance studio in one of the busiest township of Puchong, IOI Boulevard.
A & C’s philosophy in the dance academy is to reach out to the masses and promote dance sport as a healthy recreational activity that encourages creativity of expression and self-confidence, especially among youngsters. A & C aspires to assist their students to achieve their optimum potential in dancing.
