City Events, the new International Conference “Where Cities Meet Sports”

Lausanne, Press Release: From November 16 to 18, 2011, host cities and International sports Federations will meet in Lausanne (Switzerland) to build tomorrow’s international sporting events, during the second edition of City Events International Conference.This year, City Events will bring together international host cities, International Federations, events organizers and suppliers around one theme: the three dimensions of successful event hosting. These three dimensions are the economic, social and promotional impacts that successful sporting events can have for their hosts.

Last year in Brussels, 290 participants, representing 57 countries addressed forward-looking ideas and experiences about future international sporting competitions.

City Events is organized by GL Events and FISU (International University Sports Federation), in collaboration with TSE Consulting. After its first edition already, City Events has become a major meeting place for the main stakeholders of international sporting events.

All aspects required for organizing successful sporting events will be discussed by experts over 3 days. City Events is the place that will provide ambitious host cities with the information and the networking opportunities that they need. Indeed, being placed in Lausanne, The Olympic Capital, home to more than 50 international sports organizations; City Events can guarantee that cities will make the right connections. Federations willing to identify their future host. Suppliers will be able to develop new commercial contacts.
This year programme offers a perfect balance between Conferences and networking. Each plenary session will be followed by two break-out sessions during which participants will be able to interact in a more informal manner with the plenary session speakers. A 90 minutes speed-meeting session is planned to allow representatives from cities to meet as many sports professionals as possible, in a quick and efficient manner.
