THE JUDO WORLD MASTER ALMATY 2012 DAY 1

Almaty-Kazakhstan, Jan 14, 2011: The first day of the JUDO WORLD MASTER ALMATY 2012 offered very spectacular fights with many ippon. The majority of the favorites won the Gold medals, but some surprise occurred. Among them, a big one: the best judoka of the world, the Uzbek Rishod SOBIROV was defeated in final. The Champions of the first seven categories are: FUKUMI Tomoko (Japan), Arsen GALSTYAN (Russia), NISHIDA Yuka (Japan), SANJAASUREN Miyaragchaa (Mongolia), MATSUMOTO Kaori (Japan), WANG KI-Chun (Korea) and UENO Yoshie (Japan).

Women’s -48 kg. Category: The First Japanese Final

The Gold medalist of the World Master Almaty 2012, at Women’s -48 kg. Category is FUKUMI Tomoko (Japan). In a close fought final with two Japanese athletes, they tested each other to the maximum. In the end, the most experienced judoka, the former World Champion, FUKUMI Tomoko (Japan) won against ASAMI Haruna (Japan), the number 1 on the IJF World Ranking List (WRL). In the first semifinal, after a very tight contest, the World Champion 2010, ASAMI Haruna (Japan), won, by ippon, against Elena MORETTI(Italy). In the second semifinal, FUKUMI Tomoko, number 2 on the IJF WRL, won against Sarah MENEZES (Brazil).

Men’s -60 kg. Category: The Untouchable Sobirov lost the Gold!

The winner of the Gold medal of the World Masters Almaty 2012 at the Men’s -60 kg. Category is the Russian judoka Arsen GALSTYAN. The final offered a big surprise! The number 1 on the IJF WRL and Gold at the World Championships 2010, Rishod SOBIROV (Uzbekistan) was defeated, by ippon, by Arsen GALSTYAN (Russia). The specialists consider that the result has an explanation: the best judoka of the world suffered recently a medical intervention and the recovering takes time. In the first semifinal, number 1 on the IJF World Ranking List (WRL) Rishod SOBIROV (Uzbekistan), won by ippon against the young judoka Beslan MUDRANOV (Russia). In the other semifinal, surprise! The Silver medalist at the 2009 World Championships, HIRAOKA Hiroaki (Japan), the number 3 on the IJF WRL lost the fight against the number 6 on the IJF WRL, Arsen GALSTYAN (Russia), Bronze medalist at the 2010 World Championships.

Women’s -52 kg. Category: Second Japanese Final

The champion at Women’s -52 kg. Category at the World Master Almaty 2012 is NISHIDA Yuka (Japan). In a very tight final, the best judoka of the category, the number 1 and the number 2 on the IJF WRL, NAKAMURA Misato (Japan) and NISHIDA Yuka(Japan), arrived at the Golden Score. The two athletes tested each other to the maximum. In the end, the 2010 World Champion, NISHIDA Yuka won by ippon. In the first semifinal, NISHIDA Yuka(Japan), won, by ippon, against Soraya HADDAD (Algeria) , number 8 on IJF ranking. In the second semifinal, the Gold medalist at 2009 World Champion, NAKAMURA Misato (Japan) won by ippon against Ilse HEYLEN (Belgium)

Men’s -66 kg. Category: The Mongols Defeated the Japanese

The winner of the Gold medal of the World Masters Almaty 2012 at the Men’s -66 kg. Category is SANJAASUREN Miyaragchaa (Mongolia). A new surprise, in the final. The number 9 on the IJF WRL, SANJAASUREN Miyaragchaa, won by ippon against his dojo mate, the 2009 World champion and number 3 on the IJF WRL, KHASHBAATAR Tsagaanbaatar (Mongolia). In the first semifinal, another big surprise. The 2010 World Champion, MORISHITA Jumpei (Japan) lost by ippon the contest with SANJAASUREN Miyaragchaa (Mongolia). The second semifinal offered a tense fight. The former World champion, KHASHBAATAR Tsagaanbaatar (Mongolia) won, finally, the contest against the young Japanese judoka EBINUMA Masashi, the number 6 on the IJF WRL.

Women’s -57 kg. Category: The Japanese Women Judoka, Unbeatable!

The Gold medalist of the World Masters Almaty 2012, at Women’s -57 kg. Category is MATSUMOTO Kaori (Japan). In a close fought final, the 2010 World Champion, MATSUMOTO Kaori, won the third Gold of the day for Japan. The Japanese judoka won by ippon against the Silver medalist at the 2010 World Championships, Telma MONTERO (Portugal). In the first semifinal, MATSUMOTO Kaori, the number 1 on the IJF WRL won by ippon, against Rafaela SILVA (Brazil), the number 7 on the IJF WRL. In the second semifinal, the Portuguese judoka Telma MONTERO, the number 3 on the IJF WRL won by ippon against the young Japanese judoka SATO Aiko, the number 2 on the IJF WRL.

Men’s -73 kg. Category: Gold for Korea

The Gold medalist of the World Masters Almaty 2012, at Men’s -73 kg. Category is A category with the final and the semifinals offered Golden Score. In the last contest, the number 1 on the IJF WRL, NAKAYA Riki (Japan) lost the fight, at hantei, with the number 2 on the IJF WRL and 2009 World Champion WANG KI-Chun (Korea). In the first semifinal, a very tight Japanese contest, with Golden Score. Finally, NAKAYA Riki, won, at hantei, the fight with the 2010 World Champion AKIMOTO Hiroyuki, number 4 on the IJF WRL. In the other semifinal, again Golden Score. In the end, WANG KI-Chun (Korea), won by ippon against Mansur ISAEV (Russia), Bronze at the 2009 World Championships and number 5 on the IJF WRL.

Women’s -63 kg. Category: Third Japanese Final

The winner of Women -63 kg. Category, at the World Masters Almaty 2012 is. The final, between two Japanese team mates, UENO Yoshie and TANAKA Miki offered a nail-biting contest, during which we were treated to a series of attacks and counterattacks. Finally, the most experienced judoka, UENO Yoshie (Japan), the 2010 World Champion and the actual number 2 on the IJF WRL earning a well-deserved Gold medal at the World Masters Almaty 2012. In the first semifinal, the winner of the Qingdao 2011 Grand Prix, XU Lili (China), the number 6 on the IJF WRL was defeated by the 2010 World Champion and the actual number 2 on the IJF WRL, UENO Yoshie (Japan). In the other semifinal, Anicka VAN EMDEN(Netherlands)lost against TANAKA Miki (Japan), the number 13 on the IJF WRL .
