Pakistan Judo Team in Grand Slam Tokyo

PJF Press Release Dec 07, 2011: Pakistan Judo Team Grand Slam Tokyo, Shah Hussain Shah will make a second attempt to confirm Pakistan’s presence at the 2012 Olympics’ Judo event when he tries his luck at the International Judo Federation’s (IJF) Grand Slam 2011 that starts on December 9 in Tokyo, Japan.

This 18-year-old Shah Hussain Shah will represent Pakistan in the Under 100-Kg event along with a partner named Shahzaib. Shah Hussain will play his first bout in Pool “A” fight # 3, against world no. 11, Israil’s Ariel Zeevi European champion 2001 and who was also got 3rd position in the 2004 Athens Olympic.

He will play his first Int’l event. Last month Shah Hussain Shah had taken part in the Junior World Judo Championship in Cape Town where he lost to a Russian entry in the second round.

“Pakistan Judo Federation is trying to avail every opportunity here and Shah Hussain shah and his partner is our best hope since they are already in Japan,”. “The event will be tougher than Cape Town and participants more than 80 other countries will fight for the title. We just need them to qualify for the quarter-finals to book Pakistan’s berth in Olympics-2012 at London.

“Shah Hussain Shah reached the second round last time but has been training harder keeping this event in mind. I’m not expecting a lot from them but just to qualify for the Olympics.”
